The reason I asked is because so many of these cars are VW engined. This one has wire wheels, and something tells me they don't fit VW hubs. It's obviously a replica of a Porsche RSK - is it VW powered ?

It's a Porsche copy, yes, but with Porsche power too I believe.

Copies of the Porsche Spyder family have been made all over the world.

Is this one from South Africa?

I've just realised - is the car MADE in S.Africa, or is it just photographed there? Was it imported from elsewhere, for instance ?

VW-based Lolette Spider?

Carnut

Indeed it is.
I haven't been able to find out exactly when it dates from, but I suppose 1970s.

Interestingly, I found images of a car with headrests on the FordEscortSA site

(the rest of my post didn't come out.....)

It continued...... "but I couldn't gain access because I wasn't a member. This suggests that other motors would fit. The image showed a red car with headrests..Maybe two moulds were available.

Well, I looked at that and decided that in spite of its name that was the coupe version whilst mine was the spyder version, so to speak.

If I'd considered it a repost I wouldn't have let it reach the Pro's..
