Here's another picture of this car at an earlier stage of its build:

Interests in life:  Cars, cars, cars - oh and ..er..cars

D-type

If that is the car at an early stage of its original build it confirms it is a 'retro' car.  No car in the 1950s would have had a steering wheel that small!

If you look at my reply #6 it says that whilst all the parts are from the 1950's they were all put together to form this car much later than that.  In fact I think it was only made up quite recently, and the picture I posted today is of course an earlier stage of the building of Io; I think it must be 1990s or 2000s, but perhaps a bit of Googling might find the answer...

Thanks. I had another look to see if it said when Mike Smailes actually built this car, but I haven't been able to find any more info yet..
