From AstonMartins.com: By the middle of 1938, a number of the 1936 Speed model chassis were left unsold. In an effort to get more speed and sell the remaining chassis, the emerging science of aerodynamics was used to produce a new 'modern' streamlined body. The first car was exhibited at the 1938 Earls Court Motor Show and featured a 'shield' shaped grill and lamps mounted on either side. The remaining seven examples had a more rounded mesh grill with the headlamps (one or two) mounted behind. The car was quick with a genuine 100 mph available; indeed one was timed at 112 mph at Brooklands (with some modifications).
