What is this?
1 point for you!
-
My wife just popped in with a cuppa. I asked her what she thinks it is and she said "probably the World's fastest coal shovel - are you wasting your time on that puzzle thing again? You did promise to mow the lawn." I reminded her of her pointless computer searches for handbags and shoes and she left in a huff. The tea's nice and hot, though I suspect it may now be chillier elsewhere in the house. :D

;D

Italy's Formula Junior/Monza?
-
Italy's Formula Junior/Monza?
-
Formula Panda? :)
-
Not that.
-
...shall I move it?
-
I'm sure you are not paying attention to this one.... ;)
-
Last call for Experts.
I'll move it soon...
-
I give you 3 minutes, Pros! ;D
-
Formula Italia ?
-
Not that.
-
This era is out of my comfort zone, but I'm curious. It's something from an Italian national formula. Is this car powered by an Italian production car engine ?
-
So far so good.
I'm very, very surprised to see that no-one knows recognize this car!
-
It's not Formula Abarth, because the exhaust is on the wrong side. Presumably Fiat-powered ?
-
Yes, Fiat-powered.
-
Formula Monza maybe?
-
Is it a Formula F.I.R.E. car?
-
Is it a Formula F.I.R.E. car?
Yes!
-
This nose looks very familiar, like it was a Formula Ford car before that was converted. By a more or less established manufacturer (by that I mean serial production for more than 1 category)?
-
As a guess rather than a supposition: CRS?
-

Not CRS but an established manufacturer.
-
Ermolli?
-
Not Ermolli.
-
It can't be Tatuus, or can it be?
-
Not Tatuus,
It's never easy to give clues in these cases...but it can't last forever: this maker is very, very known!
-
I'm not sure which Martini was that, but this is the most famous name which I can find in this regard.
-
Not Martini.
More famous.
This car was built by a known name, not in the restricted Formula Fire world. t was featured here dozens of times and each one in this forum knows it!
-
At the level of Van Diemen? It looks damn familiar.
-
Let's say
Van Diemen: puzzle's car = Koenigsegg : Aston Martin
This is just a personal idea about the magnitudo of the popularity of the brand, nothing about their products or story or etc etc...don't spend too much time on this!
-
L...Lola?
-
To be more precise, you can ignore the existence of Van Diemen or Koenigsegg if you are not very interested in Formula cars or exotic sportscars, but if you do not know Aston Martin or XXX it means you know very few about cars. (I choose Aston Martin because I know people who do not know it).
-
Ferrari?
-
Not Lola.
Not Ferrari.
I won't lock it for the maker, I'll need the model too.
-
That's confusing indeed, as it's hard to imagine that a car of a famous make would not be mentioned in regard to a small series where mostly little known makes competed. Especially when you say that Van Diemen is a lesser known company compared to this one. Indeed, it looks even more to me now that this car might have been a conversion from a car for another series. Then again, I'm totally guessing now again.
Browsing through Formula Monza/Panda/F.I.R.E. information I've stumbled upon Marcos name. Any chance it is Marcos (if it was THAT Marcos)?

Not Marcos and no need to be confused...
This car was built for the Formula Fire.
I doubt it ever raced.
It was going to be produced in several exemplars.
I suspect that is the only one ever made.
You are too focused on Formula cars.
-
I know I am, I'm trying to get away from them. Must be Italian then if it was developed for Formula F.I.R.E. and surely it will be an unexpected name. Something like Bizzarrini?
-
Now we are on the right track!
It's an Italian make and Bizzarrini is a good guess but wrong.
-
Horacio Pagani has built a formula car for local Argentinian races early in his career. Maybe he could also develop a Formula Fire car? Pagani?
-
Not Pagani...
-
The last guess before I leave my workplace will be De Tomaso that tried to do everything :P
-
Not De Tomaso...
-
Maserati?
-
Not Maserati.
-
Lamborghini?
-
Not Lamborghini.
-
Osella?
-
Not Osella.
-
Cizeta?
-
Not Cizeta...
-
Abarth?
-
Bandini?
-
Not Abarth or Bandini.
-
Dallara?
-
Not Dallara.
-
You'll save more time if you'll try to narrow the area...
-
I already tried. What I understood from this all is that it is a Formula FIRE car which apparently didn't race, despite a series of cars was planned to be produced. The car was developed by a rather famous Italian (?) company that was not a single seater specialist.
Innocenti? They've produced Fiat Uno based cars in those years after all.

Alfa Romeo hasn't been mentioned yet.
-
Now that you mentioned Alfa Romeo I can even see that the nose hole shape is very similar to Alfa grille shape :o Would be interesting to know if your guess is correct. I wasn't even thinking about suggesting Alfa.

Cisitalia?
-
Yes! :cheer:
-
:applause:
-
It's not over (and not locked) yet.
Model's name is still missing!
-
It was made in Argentina and the name I think is Lupa
-
It was made in Italy (by XXXXXX & XXXXXXX XXX), and shown 1st time there.
It came from an idea of Piero's son, Carlo Dusio.
The total run of 30 cars was going to be sold in Argentina too.
The nickname was indeed 'Lupa', but it had an official name too.
Now is locked for you, the answer can be found also where you took this pic ;)
-
Here's my problem, I only found a low-res version of this picture which has all the answers. If you extend the lock, I can continue my search tomorrow
-
You found the car, only the name is missing.
It's locked for you.
If you took the hi-res pic from a set of pics, you should be able to see the answer there ;)...
-
Hiawatha suggested D88. I think I found the original set from 2009, but there's no hi-res option. So, with much sadness, I am out
-
Not D88 but very close.
Still locked.
-
Maybe D8?
-
Not D8...like the D46 the name has a meaning.
Here is the answer:

Take your time for your next guess, then I'll unlock. ;)
-
It is called Cisitalia D98 because it was presented in 1998. Grrrrr, this was difficult
-
...and you did it!
I thought it was easier, the maker is quite known and there are books and books about.
I must confess I was not aware of this car untill I found an article about, but a search online gave me back several results.
It was built by Racing & Classic Car in Lombardore and shown in Turin in April 1998.
Point for you!
