Title: Solved TGF-297: Fiat project 06 by Felice Cornacchia, 1960
Post by: targhediferro on November 27, 2013, 08:01:23 AM
Not so difficult to understand the brand;  I'd like to know the model description, the year, and who did the project.

I'm not sure but this maybe the prototype called "Europa Jeep" an amphibious 4x4 made by Fiat/Man/Saviem in 1960.

I don't know if this prototype was part of the "Europa Jeep" project, but it may be as the year (1960) is correct.  Anyway I suppose it is a different vehicle, not only because my source doesn't mention Europa Jeep Project, but also because there are many differences, as you can see matching the two pictures.

I've asked to a friend expert (surely more than me) about military vehicles: he says that the brand is Fiat and the vehicle is in the Historic Military Museum of Cecchignola: we can see it behind this prototype of tank

This one appears to be unlocked so I will offer what I have found.

I have the vehicle described as a Fiat Tipo 06 made as a prototype in Helibronn, Germany in connection with Fiat-NSU made in 1957.  The person responsible was a Sr. Felice Comacchia, who later returned to several high positions with Fiat in Italy.

As Thorax indicates, apparently it is still in existence in that museum.  Would be nice to get the story of the prototype tank also, I did not find it yet.

I'm sorry for Thorax who was on the right path, but Bill gave the correct and complete answer I was waiting for.  I suppose it is based on a Fiat 600 Multipla (wheels, steering) and it was to be an amphibious project, that's why the engine was put in central position. A well deserved point to Bill.

Thanks TGF.

I too am a bit sorry that Thorax was not able to finish the puzzle earlier but military wheeled vehicles is my main field of research. I got a late start on this quiz, but I was pursuing the same line of information. Just got there a bit sooner.
