An old racer.
For one point, please respond and identify this car.

-
F2?
-
I don't know much about this car, but I'm rather sure that it is no Formula 2 racer.
-
Is it a Formula Junior car?
-
As I said before, I really don't know. Let's put it this way: regarding the engine it probably would have been allowed to start there.
-
Postwar, Crosley-powered 3/4 midget?
-
It is not Crosley-powered.
All I know of this car is its maker and name as well as its engine size.
But I would guess that it is post-war. Whether it ever participated in a racing series and in which one, I don't know.

Japan?

I have it somewhere at home I believe...
It looked so familiar, but couldn't match it...
-
Specifically from Thailand? (the racing colours of that country were blue and yellow)
-
I only know the maker. That one is from Japan, as already guessed.
-
Now I'm pretty sure that if not the same it's something like that:
It was in my old "A Day At The Races" puzzle and I had it filed as "1936 Datsun Midget Racer"
The first recorded race wins by a Datsun I can find are in 1936 in Japan. A Datsun Midget took the checkered flag at the Japan Motor Vehicle Competition at Tamagawa Speedway. The Midget was powered by at 747cc engine. Datsun cars were probably raced in Japan throughout the 30's and right up until the Second World War.
-
That definitely is the car. I didn't recognize that it has been featured here before. In the unmodified puzzle picture it has a name written on the rear wing. Locked for you to find that name and earn the point.
-
Now I've found this interisting quote
Ohta Race Car
This photo has been doing the rounds of the internet for years tagged as being a Datsun NL-75, but it isn't. The car is actually a single seater built by Yuichi Ohta in the early 1950s. Yuichi Ohta had a long association with Nissan, and he was the designer of the Datsun DC-3 and the Datsun S211 sports cars.
This car however was not a Nissan product, it was Yuichi's own project, though it did have a Datsun engine.
-
Very interesting. I will reward that information with the hint that neveretheless the name refers to the engine maker.
-
So it's something like "Datsun ......." ?
-
So it's something like "Datsun ......." ?
;D

1951 Datsun 'King' 750 racing car

A Datsun 'King' 750 racing car, with DC-3 designer Yuichi Ohta at the wheel
-
That's it.
A well-earned point for you. Thanks for the additional pictures.
-
Thanks for heading this in a new direction. Will change it in the group puzzle, too.
-
You have to correctly identify this car, and the year it was built, to have a point.
-
Up!
-
Is it a BMW 328-based "eigenbau" of some sort ?
-
Not a BMW.
-
Pros time.
-
Italian?
-
German?
-
Neither Italian, nor German.
-
Czech?
-
Not Czech.
-
Polish?
-
Not polish.
-
European?
-
I'm fairly confident it's not British. It could well be based on a production car by the look of the wheels. French ?
-
Not French.
-
It's a car that was built in Japan in the early 50's by Yuichi Ohta. It had a Datsun engine.
-
Ta-Daaa! We nave a winner! That's right. I'll post the original picture.
-
Thank you for the point, I knew that I'd seen that photo before, and remembered that it was a Japanese car.

Being the same car, I think it should be merged.

Agree. Done.
