This one is a bit of a mystery to me, because I don't know who was responsible for the bodywork. Nevertheless it is a nice puzzle car.

For one point, please respond and identify this car.

Is this based on a DKW 1000?

No, but you are not far away

Auto Union 1000 is not very far...and there was a Kombi I think.

Yes, it is a IFA F9 Kombi, but not one of those two versions usually mentioned in literature. The first F9 wagons had a woody-like appearance with bolt-on rear wings, followed by an all-steel version with flared-in fenders. The puzzle car has a steel body, but with bolt-on fenders. It is a mixture of wagon and van, and its rear door is hinged at the opposite side than the door of the usual wagon. Looking at the finish of the bodywork it seems to be a professional job. Does anybody have an idea about the coachbuilder?

Attached are some more pictures of the puzzle car and the two Kombi versions offered by IFA.

One more point for you, targhediferro.

Neat vehicles! One of those would suit me for a daily driver, if I could
1. Somehow make it pass my state's emissions testing, and
2. Find the necessary repair parts.

The mix of this car had forced me to guess AERO, because that car has bolted rear wings...very interesting.
