Well it's an MGA, but I can't trace its history. Is that a Cobra badge on the front? In which case it'll be either a Ford 289 or Ford 427.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

You got the (very) easy bit!
I couldn't see what the badge was, which is why I didn't paint it out.
It's not Ford-powered.

I always get the easy bits ! I'm intrigued by the shape of the rad opening which looks like a Daimler SP250, but I'm sure the engine is more powerful than that. Chevrolet ?

No, not Chevy powered.

Could it possibly have the Daimler V8 in it?

No - not a Dodge and not particularly recent.

Its a 1956 MGA powered by a 1976 V12 Jaguar Engine.

Called the "FLLMNTY"

Form Venice, California

Its also listed as a 1960 on one site.

Carnut

It is indeed an MGA powered by a Jaguar V12, but I have it as 1960 and the engine as much later than 1976.
Also there's no mention of that name (or any other name) on the various sites I got the photos from; I wonder if it's the same car?  Do you have a picture of 'FLLMNTY'?

Here are some more pictures of this car:

There wasn't a V12 Jaguar engine until about 1970.  So this must be a 1960 [?] MGA later modified by installing a 1976 V12 Jaguar engine.
FLLMNTY must be an abbreviation or acronym but I can't think what it may stand for.

Edit
I found this picture http://www.flickr.com/photos/gogogaspedal/2586729450/ which shows that FLL MNTY is the car's registration - but it could still be some sort of acronym for the builder or owner.

Possibly FLL MNTY = Full Monty ??

PM sent with link to site with the info on it,from the advert when it was for sale.

The photos seem to be taken at different periods in the same cars gestation.

I also saw that one Dutch site had it listed as powered by a 1996 V12 Jaguar engine.

Carnut

I'm sure FLLMNTY stands for The Full Monty, yes, referring to it being somewhwat powerful I'm sure..

So Wayne B has identified the right car and gets the point.  Although various sites picture the car and quote different information it would appear that this is a 1956 car with a 1976 V12 engine.

But I really don't know if that is its name or if they are just quoting its registration number; no other site quotes a name..
