Yes, there is something special about it. I won't tell you where to look, because that would give it almost away, but I can supply a similar view at a regular 1000 Sp Coupé:
The only difference I found, apart from the logos missing, is the flat lights with orange indicators, but I suppose they are wrong spare parts. Or perhaps it is a model for Italian market?
No, I didn't mean the wrong rear lights. There is something else different which leads the way to the solution.
Is it RHD? I think all 1000SPs were imported as LHD. The sun visor is down on that side. (Grasping at straws).
It is LHD, but you are focussing on the correct area of the car.
It has front quarter-lights, unlike the standard car. Pre-production model or prototype?

Yes, that is the indication that this car is not a 1000 Sp. It is not a factory prototype, but a private one-off. Find out about the rest of the car and the point is yours.
It's difficult to put into decent english..Is it two different cars grafted together?

Yes! And I give you a hint: they are related.
DKW Junior?
You've understood the hint, but it is not a DKW Junior.
Sonderklasse?
Getting much closer
1000S front and 1000SP rear?
Yes, that's it. The online ad said that it was built in the 1960s. I'm not sure about the builder, it could be called Erb 1000 K.
One point for you.
That car is hideous! Sorry, Hiawatha - I would have given you a point for Sonderklasse, if it had been my puzzle.
No problem, apparently the Sonderklasse is earlier, but that's exactly what I had in mind. It's really ugly aniway.
When I see something like this I have to ask "Why"
The only answer I can think of is that a competent panel beater, who had no aesthetic sense, had a rear-ended SonderKlasse and a front-ended 1000SP in his yard and a thin order book so he had to do something to fill his time
... and if you look at the front wings, you can see that he even must have lowered the sedan body to make it fit to the 1000 Sp rear end. Strange, but true!
