Who built this race car, and what was it based upon?

It was built by Mick Hill, based upon a Trojan Formula 5000.

"Formula 5000" was the race series the Trojan competed in, not the model of car.  What model of Trojan was this "Beetle" based upon?

The rear end and the frnt suspension came from the Trojan 102

And the point goes to tuatank for the correct answer.

My research on this puzzle indicates, only 1 or 2 T102's were ever built.
