An unfinished car, what is it, from when and what's special about it ?

I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

I think it might be a Hansa 2300 which was produced into WW2 from 1939. Is it maybe the prototype ?

Sorry Nicanari, I waited to see if Ubb would have locked it for you, but now I'm afraid someone will overcome me...so I give my answer:
Hansa Privat 3500 cabriolet from 1938. This car, recently rescued, seems to be the only one left of this series, and was a gift from Borgward factory to Bilbao city in Spain. Plate BI-13281.

I saw both replies from nicanary and targhediferro only this morning, Hansa is correct but targhediferro has got it 100% right. So I'll award a point to Luciano.

This Hansa 3500 is not a Cabriolet, but a Cabrio-Limousine, because the window frames are fixed. The Hansa 3500 was called Privat, because it was mainly developed for the personal use of Carl F.W. Borgward himself. We had the sedan (with a modified front) before: http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=21484.0

Below you can find a drawing of a 3500 Cabriolet by Gläser.

... and the earlier version with different hood louvers.
