Title: What's That? #457 - "Seater Meter" U of M Auto Lab / 1936 Oldsmobile
Post by: Otto Puzzell on April 28, 2013, 06:15:47 AM
For one point: What is this device, and what, specifically is it doing, as pictured here?

Only a correct, complete and specific answer will earn a point; tag-on's to other guesses will not. So, be specific and complete!

I guess it measures the pressure imposed by a driver on each area of his seat in relation to the angle of the backrest and other parts of the seat. Was this done to find the best driving position with respects to health and ergonomy?

You have the general idea (though it's her seat in this case) :D

Can you find the rest of the answer? I'm looking for a specific make and year of car.

Since nobody else even took a stab at this one, I'm locking for your next reply.

That may have been the year your photo was published, but the original photo includes evidence to the contrary. Different girl, too.

Since you are on the right path, I'll continue the lock for one more go.

the device is called a "Seater Meeter". No joke. The original photo was testing a 1936 Oldsmobile seat. I don't know what year the seat the second photo is testing, it may be the same seat.
