Title: Who Am I? #524 - Roy C. McCarty, father of the Mustang Streamline Car

For one point: Who is the gentleman pictured, and what is his connection with the world of cars?

Only a correct, complete and specific answer will earn a point; tag-on's to other guesses will not. So, be specific and complete!

I think the hair is too short for Lord Montague, Gibbs.

Is the gentleman perhaps German?

The type of car with which he is associated has been puzzled here before - more than once.

I'm thinking that there's got to be a clue in there somewhere, but I haven't managed to work it out.

I can make an indirect connection with Jeep, though. Could this man be John North Willys?

Not Willys, and the car is not a Willys nor a Jeep.

Only reply #10 was a direct clue.

The picture must have been taken in the 60's, was he involved in the design department of a major car producer?

I don't know when the picture was taken, but it could date from the 1960's. He was not part of a major manufacturers design department.

I'm feeling generous today - another clue:

The automobile with which this man was associated, is of a general type that was the subject of a group puzzle dedicated to that type.

It was also a stand-alone puzzle.

I may not have the patience to check all the possibilities. The group puzzle must be paul's, then...
Let's try J. Roy Hunt, builder of several "House-cars".
If I'm wrong, please unlock this puzzle.

There is a sort-of Kevin Bacon-esque connection to this other puzzle:

Despite a vigorous marketing effort, nowhere near 418,000 of this man's cars were sold in the model year in which it was was introduced.
