Wild guess: Toyota Corona Sports prototype ?

fyreline

Almost looks like an aftermarket hardtop on this Toyota . . . as for year, I"ll guess 1960?

SACO

Not a  Toyota Corona Sports prototype  !
Just 1960 !

oko94

Is it the Sports version of an existing model or is it an original model ?

SACO

It is the sports version of an existing model !

oko94

Toyota Publica Sports prototype ?

mekubb

A 1960 Toyopet prototype ?

SACO

Not a Toyota Publica Sports !
Not a prototype make by Toyota but make by a designer !

oko94

A Japanese designer ?

mekubb

So to have it clear : it's made by a designer / coach builder in 1960 using a Toyota chassis, but not based on Publica, Corona, 2000 or Toyopet ?

If so, is it based on a Toyota Crown ?

SACO

mekubb

Yes for oko's question or yes for mekubb's question ? Or both ?

SACO

A car based on a Toyota Crown  by a Japanese designer  !

oko94

Is it by Satoru Nozaki ?

mekubb

How can anyone think a round wheel looks good in a square wheel arch?  :headache:

Square wheel arches were quite a common stylistic theme for a while . . . not passing judgement on whether they were successful or not. I was quite sure that was an aftermarket or accessory removable hardtop shown in the initial photo, which I think looks quite smart. Never got even close to finding this one, and only discovered one photo reference to it even now - so, well found!

At least it's better than a square wheel in a round arch...!
