This one is more known...1 point for its name!

Allemano

Nice plate work Mr. Jaray!  ;D
It's a British car, correct?

Paul Jaray

This one is not so obscure...

Ginetta G3 also known as Fairlite?

Paul Jaray

Not a Ginetta.
I don't know if this may help, but there is another pic of this car that shows a different front, but the windshield and the side of the car is the same.
This maker is not so popular as Ginetta, but is featured in all the books about british sports cars.

Could this be a Rochdale? Maybe an Mk VI?

Paul Jaray

Not a Rochdale.
Another clue: if you google this name on the net, you won't find any pic of it.

Len Terry's Terrier?

spider murphy

Moore & Tye Special (1951), used Ford Pilot parts.

Kind regards

Probably Spider Murphy is right, but I'll bet for 1951 J.A.G., equipped with 3.6-liter, V8  ;D

...and here it comes another picture:

Who has seen this before? I'm not sure it ever had a proper name as such, so please tell be who built the body, what car's mechanical parts was it based on and when it was built

Paul Jaray

Very cool pic!
and a mistery too..I posted this car as a puzzle of mine long ago. It was puzzle 'PJ151' and I remember well because I did a poor photoshop of the plate....but now it doesn't show up in any search!

Paul Jaray

I had to look through the solved pages, one by one...I tried different ways (Jag, 1951, PJ151, title only, by user,..etc) but it went below the radar!

Hi Paul, as far as I know this car isn't the JAG special.... I trust my source as it's quite specific in it's details and also mentions the similarity between the cars... however this is a one-off special ordered by a client and built by a small company that, as far as i know, has no connection to the JAG...

Paul Jaray

Wow it sounds interesting!
I can move it back in the Rookie section and you can run it like a puzzle of yours (I'll change the title) or you can post your info here and I'll give you a point for solving this mistery!

OK, so to put this puzzle to bed it's probably easier to quote verbatim what information I have so please excuse the 'plagiarism'!

"Built in 1951 in the workshop of Messrs Moore & Tye of Hastings.... Bodied in aluminium, with a wooden floor, and mounted on a tubular chassis, the car utilised a number of Ford V8 Pilot parts including the engine and transmission"
"The car was built for an Eastbourne chiropodist,a fact borne out by the 1951 Eastbourne registration AJK 151. Many features bear an uncanny resemblance to the JAG cars built at Thames Ditton by John A. Griffiths from 1950, also Ford V8 powered, and one wonders if the 1950 JAG provided the inspiration"

Anyone know whereabout Moore & Tye were based? I'm off to Hastings on Saturday, it'd be interesting to have a look at the site of the workshops.

Bump!

Any chance the topic title can be changed PJ?
