For one point: what is it - make, type and year?

Only a correct, complete and specific answer will earn a point; tag-on's to other guesses will not. So, be specific and complete!

According to a 2012 sale listing, this is the world's first four cylinder car, and the oldest American car ever offered at auction.  It is a: 1895 Buffum Four-Cylinder Stanhope.

That's it! 1895 Buffum Four-Cylinder Stanhope, chassis no. 1BUFFUM.

I think there is some skepticism about the provenance of this car.
