Your photo of the stripped chassis keeps making me think of Jean Behra's special he built for Formula 2 racing, although I think that was based on an RSK.  Did the engineers who made that, also make this ?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

The Durlite was one of two specials built using Porsche components by Webb, who hailed from Indianapolis and was a skilled machinist and fabricator. The car was built between 1956 and 1958 and used a tube frame of Webb's own design, along with Porsche suspension and 4-cylinder engine. Webb raced the car in 1957 before selling it to Jim Ray, who raced the car in 1958, replacing the original engine with a Carrera 4-cylinder engine. The car showed great promise, but was destroyed in a crash at the Road America track in June 1958.
