Yes ! a body by Fissore !but not a Fiat 1400 !

Not a Fiat !
Simca?
Sorry ! but always locked !

I have this car as a Fiat 1100...
Have you an other photo ?
Only this one...

From Paolo Fissore's book, so it should be a reliable source ;).
Looking at the wheels, I'd say a 1100 EL (or an old BL) and not an ELR.
Perhaps the same body with several bases ?
Honestly, I don't think so. If you look at the details (fog-lamps, side indicator housing, wheelcovers) the 2 photos look indeed of the same car.
The little badge is not Fiat !
Good to know. Again to be honest, Fissore's "Fissore" book is 99% reliable. I've already found another wrong caption, indicating a minibus as a Fiat 1100 that - looking at the wheels - cannot be that. So perhaps, among hundreds photos, he can have mixes up a description.
Now I'm curious to know which car is this one actually based on...
Is it an italian car?

I'm pleased you say 99% and not 100%!
There is a picture in the book of a wooden buck described as the buck for the TVR Trident. It's not; it for the TVR Tina!
Not an Italian car !
Pros !
Simca ?
Not a Simca !
Peugeot 403?
I thought it was based upon a Fiat 6c 1500 D or E, but as you say this car hasn't an Italian base I want to guess a British marque..is it based upon a Singer RM?
Peugeot 203?
Not a Peugeot and not a Singer !
Hotchkiss Gregoire?
A French base?
Not Hotchkiss , and not a French base !
Ford?
Not a Fiat, you say. What about a Seat?
Not Ford and not a Seat !
Believe me, I looked for a long time before asking a question, but can this be a Soviet brand car?
Bill
Based on some war scrap, like an Austin or a Chevrolet?
British base?
DKW 1000 base with Fissore coachwork from about 1965?
Not a Soviet brand car !
Not an Austin or a Chevrolet !
Not British base !
And not a DKW !
NSU-Fiat 1100 aka Neckar Europa ?
Studebaker base?
When you say "And not a DKW !", are you also ruling out the Spanish (IMOSA) and Argentine (IASFe) DKW licensees as well?
Not NSU , not Studebaker ,and not IMOSA or IASFE ! :)
Steyr ?
Chevrolet?
Opel base?
Not Steyr , Chevrolet or Opel !
European, at least?
Mercedes-Benz?
Yes !
Mercedes-Benz "Ebano" 1953 by Fissore
( the wheel-base is perhaps long for a Fiat 1100 ? )
1 point for targhediferro :)
(and thank you Gerd !)
Wow..I got this idea from the side view of the steering wheel, but I thought it actually was as barking to the moon.
Based on a Mercedes-Benz 170 D chassis:
I've probably never seen a Mercedes that looked less like a Mercedes than this one.
Are you sure it's the MB emblem? Doesn't like so much similar, IMO. Too thick and without any word around.
Any German specialist opinion?
Here is an emblem from a 170 V. It looks pretty much the same to me:
Indeed! Very interesting information.
