What's this and from when does it date , for 1 point ! :)
Experts !
Cooper-Bristol from about 1955
Yes , a Cooper-Bristol but older !
Locked for you !
I should have checked in Doug Nye's Cooper history. It's TPD 1, Tony Cook's car from 1953, christened 'Mucky Pup' by a subsequent owner
Cooper -Bristol , Tony Cook's car from 1953
1 point for D-type !
That's a very early photo of the car, and may well have been taken at the car's first appearance at the May 1953 International Trophy meeting. Later in the season it had a different radiator grille and twin exhausts. It was based on a MkI T20 Formula 2 car, but the following year Tony Crook preferred his later "sports" car based on a Mk2 T23 car, the one with the cycle wings.
The name should be spelt "Crook". Tony Crook passed away in January 2014, and will be remembered not only as a fine driver, but the man who continued running Bristol Cars long into his old age, owner, manager, secretary, chief road tester, parts manager, head salesman, tea boy, goofer, the whole shebang. He lived and breathed Bristols.
Apologies. My typing error not Sir Doug's.
His photo shows the car at the International Trophy meeting and it is sporting no 18.
The " Daily Express International Trophy " at Silverstone 1953 !
