For a point, which company made this, what is its model name, and what car is it based on?

richard cuyler

It's based on something with a separate chassis, so a Ford Transit perhaps?

Djetset

Ys, it does have a separate chassis, but it's not from a Ford Transit.

Djetset

Yes-ish!  Can you be more specific?
A car is for life, not just for Christmas.

D-type

I've no idea.  Right hand drive, separate chassis, too chunky for a Triumph Herald.  What's left?      Land Rover.

So, is it a modified Range Rover?

If I'm right please don't lock it as I'm blundering around in the dark.

Djetset

Yes, it is on a Range Rover chassis (what a way to treat a first-generation Range Rover!  :-[).

So, any idea who made it, and what it's called?.

Climbing up to the Pros.

Wendax

It is a British one-off, based on a 1989 Range Rover Vogue EFi.

I couldn't find out who made it though. Here's the online auction blurb:
Quote
Loosely based on a 1920s style roadster, this car is a true one of a kind, it's chassis 110" has been fully reworked, and is in excellent condition, powered by a rover 3500cc V8 (buick) engine run through a chrysler 727 torque flight gearbox and a transfer box. the original car was a Range Rover, lowered suspension, dislocation cones on the rear, full new exhaust system, mitsubishi L200 radiator, Audi A6 servo and master cylinder and dual circuit braking system, retro style dashboard, button back upholstery, good tyres all round, new brake pads all round, fold down windshield, recoiling seatbelts x 4, stylish externally mounted transmission brake, halogen headlights, miller style tail/stop lights, custom built body, roof packs away in the boot. double fold up side access bonnet allows excellent access for working.

Djetset

Well done Wendax, you've got the base of this monster correctly sorted.  Locked to you now to tell me who made it, and what is the model's name.  ;)

Wendax

Was it done by Buckby Engineering from Daventry?

Djetset

Well done again Wendax, as this creation was built by Buckby Engineering in Daventry.  They did give this horror a name, so still locked for you for that final piece of information.

I can't find anything. Just a guess going by the radiator mascot: Eagle?

Djetset

It's not Eagle Wendax, but as your detective work to date has been so good on this obscure one, I think a point should be yours anyway once fully resolved.

Now re-opened to all-comers to find the model name.

Horror indeed. It really is quite unbelievably awful. :yuck: As for it's description 'loosely based on a 1920's roadster', this gives the word loosely a completely new meaning. ;D

Interesting that this is an "engineering" company, but the rear doors are closed by a garden gate bolt. The engineering level of a 12-year old boy building a go-kart. Shocking.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Strange Rover would be a very appropriate name, but it is not that.  I have seen this car in person, and it is even worse than it looks in the photos!

As a clue to its model name, the car uses a lot of parts from a lot of different cars, so...

I thought someone would guess at 'Bitsa', but it's not that I'm afraid!
