I get the impression that Buckby is quite a 'basic' engineering company, not quite operating at the McLaren level, so 'Potpourri' is a little too exotic!  ;)

Given all the bits and pieces, if not stew, how about: Hash?

Djetset

Not curry, but something else us Brits love eating!

fry-up?

Doh! Just thought of it - Bubble and Squeak? (If it is, it's a bit unfair on our overseas members, who'll never had heard of this meal).
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Fish & chips?
Rat-pie and beans?
Seriously, though, it should be the Buckby Blunderbus.
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

Djetset

Not quite, although you have sort of stumbled on a bit of the answer in your comments Allan!  ;)

Oh, I didn't think we were looking for something tasting good, but what British like to eat. :bonk:
(Sorry for that one. I hope the car isn't called Marmite.)

Closer still, so the puzzle remains locked for a more specific answer.

Oh, and Wendax, probably better that I don't comment, especially as a great lover of Marmite!  :D

Ahhh! So sorry Tom, I've been away for a few days at Retromobile with a poor Wi Fi signal, so missed your earlier reply, which is close enough, as this model is call ed the Heinz 57, so the last point goes to you. plus another to Wendax for getting the name of the firm that built this, plus the base.  Well done.

By coincidence I just heard on the radio that more Heinz baked beans are eaten in Britain than in the rest of the world put together!

Djetset

Me too (over 75% of all of the baked beans sold in the world by Heinz are sold in the UK!). Delighted to learn I am not the only BBC Radio 4 fan here.  :D
