Was it made by a coachbuilder rather than a manufacturer ?

Hmmm, a tricky one to answer as the company behind this was neither really a coachbuilder nor manufacturer.

Despite its 1980s style, this sketch is actually older than the decade of shoulder pads, Quattros and Boy George!
-
So from the late seventies ?
-
Hmm yes, late-ish, but I won't say the precise year, as that is part of the original question to gain a point!

Any relation to Delta/Durocar?

Any relation to Delta/Durocar?
Yes! Now locked to you until your next reply to tell me more (model name and year, for which I've already given a big clue!).
-
Yep that strong Bauhaus-style reminded me on Delta, but in fact I'm a litte stuck here.
My (contradictory) source reports Delta was closed down in 1971 after all attempts to get into production were fruitless.
On the other hand there are pics featured which date from 1975... ???
So, I'm guessing it's a 1976/77 module van design based on old Delta 6/Durocar 1 concepts.
-
Oh, you are getting so close Allemano! I will keep this locked for you, as you have mentioned the correct year (which I will confirm once fully resolved), but your model numbering is not quite there as yet ;)
-
hmmm... following their nomenclature I guess it could be Durocar 2 from ... wait ... 1977?
-
Or is it the Delta 7 from 1976? :D
-
Have one more try, as you are on the right road!
-
I actually walked on two roads.. :-\
Delta 8?
-
Well done Allemano, you finally chose the right road, so another point to you ;)
This is the Delta 8 from Delta Design, dating from 1976.
I don't know much about this pre-Matra/Renault Espace proposal, but I found it in an obscure late-1970s German book about industrial design some years back. I don't think the car ever got built sadly.

way ahead of its time, but maybe a little unemotional...

I agree. So, I wonder when Delta Design finally closed its doors and ceased business, because most reports suggest that it was not doing much by 1976 when this car was conceived? Does anyone know for certain?
