What's this and from when does it date, for 1 point?:

Its a 1973 pre-production prototype of an Hillman Imp based car called a Rycam Mirage K18.

Designed by Tom Killeen and built by Rycam Engineering in Sutton Coldfield , Warwickshire, England.

The production versions had a different lower fixed recessed headlamp arrangement and didn't look as nice as this version IMO.

That's correct, yes.
The 'production' version has been puzzled here before but not this one.

One of the first thing I usually recognise on the puzzle cars is the wheels.

This one has alloy wheels made by Midland Metallic of Coventry on it.

I used to work in a car accessory shop selling Mag wheels in the 70's.

Maybe we could start separate puzzles with just the automobiles wheels ?

I have to confess, in this shot I didn't even see the wheel. True! ;D
