There are parts from various different cars, incl some from Land Rover (but only the door hinges as far as I know!)

Oh, this one is bugging me as I've seen this actual car, and even took some photosof it, which I have somewhere! Is it a British Leyland prototype, as something tells me I may have seen it at the Gaydon museum?

You might well have seen it displayed as I believe it does do the rounds of classic car shows.
But I doubt very much if you've seen it at Gaydon; it's not an official prototype at all.

Ah ha, it's all coming back to me. So. It is is based on a Triumph Spitfire, so now just need to recall who made it.

Yes it is!
I don't need to know who made it as that's not one of the questions (I don't know myself!) so I'll lock it for you to answer the remaining question for the point.

Eek, I think I have the name of the builder somewhere, but not the purpose the car was built for.  Was it to do the Standard-Triumph Lands End-John O'Groats tour, as a service support vehicle?

I didn't ask for its purpose...
Remains locked for Djetset.

You asked 'built for what?' so I thought you wanted its purpose.   Any connection with fishing?

Ah, sorry I was in too much of a hurry, as always! It is made of flat wood panels.

That's right, it's made of wood.
The car is still on UK plates although it has apparently resided in Germany since 2006.
Well done!
