so far I can only find the names afm opel and afm fiat that was with this car, but no year yet,I ,ll keep trying though?
You're nearly there; it's an AFM Fiat (AFM Opel-based engine and Fiat chassis).
Still locked for you to give the year.

Could you PM me where you got the information from, especially year and the Fiat chassis bits?
I found this car in literature as the AFM Super 2500 Cabriolet, a one-off from 1951.

I found this car in literature as the AFM Super 2500 Cabriolet, a one-off from 1951.
I'll try my best; I struggled to find it again last week but hopefully I saved the site as a favourite, but on my computer at work.
I'll have a look on Monday (I can log in from here but won't have the time what with the Italian Grand Prix and the pre-1980's TVR meet tomorrow..)
The site I found it on last week might not be the original one I got the picture from however, as I have a recollection that it also detailed who the car was built for, an aristocratic gentlemen; I have been unable to verify that though.
-
No need to hurry. I'm looking forward to your answer.

Which Fiat engine? Do you know?
-
Which Fiat engine? Do you know?
Fiat provided the chassis; the engine is an Opel-based AFM
-
Ok, sorry, but from which car, if known?
-
I'm not sure about the Fiat chassis, but sources are scarce for the AFM 2500. Usually mentioned as the first one was the 1951 coupe: http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=11859, with an Opel Kapitän engine and a tubular frame. Then there was a Drews-bodied convertible, mentioned here before: http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=19186. This puzzle car shows stylistic similarities to the 1949 Drews convertibles on VW chassis: http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=9800. Meanwhile I tend to agree that it is a Fiat-based one-off for AFM. Then it wouldn't have an Opel engine, nor a tubular chassis, but probably be based on a Fiat 1100, but that's just my opinion.
-
It's hard to find information on these cars and of course much of what you do find can be inaccurate.
I got my info from a usually reliable source but that's not to say it's guaranteed to be 100 pct correct..
But how to find out for sure?
-
I'm not sure whether this isn't just a Drews-bodied Fiat 1100 with an Fiat-based AFM 1100 engine. Can anyone recognize the emblem? It is not AFM. The lettering beneath it should say "Karosserie Drews".
-
This car was built in 1950 by Drews for race driver Teddy Vorster on a Fiat 1100 chassis. The Fiat engine was modified by AFM.
