Hardly worth a point so far!
I'd guess it was a Firefly (1933 or so) shortened and lowered (smaller wheels help that).
That's a 1479 cc 4-cylinder car so not that much bigger than the Singer or Aston Martin suggestions.
No idea what body it is, but clearly influenced by MGA/A-H 100 of the mid 1950s.
Was there a readable registration no. on the original photo?

You can see better the open-centre wheelnuts that made me think Alvis

London is correct but it was issued mid-late April 1932.
