Open wheels (no mudguards) and headlamps!  Is it Australian?

The chassis is French. Now you need to find out what marque, and also what powers the car.

It is a 1930 BNC Type 527 Voiturette with a Ford V8-60 flathead (one source says it was Instaled around 1943-44) and raced by by George Caswell and Otto Linton in the first Watkins Glen road races in 1948, finishing 8th overall, 4th in class. It could be also called  Caswell BNC.

Well done, Serra! One point to your total. I deliberately selected a puzzle photo which was not very clear, but it did show the unusual engine. You've said all there is to say - here's another photo.
