15852: WALLACE AUTOMOBILE
Should be the Wallace Automobile Company of New York City, planning to build cars in 1912, but unknown whether they ever succeeded.

Too many James...I hope it doesn't look a not correct way of playing, but the game is the game...so I quit and I go for 5938.

Apologizes, I saw that I gave you the same suggestion twice!
Of course it's not wrong, it was just an advice and this is just a game and beside that, with the names it can be indeed quite difficult and your strategy is equally efficient (but risky  ;) ).
He was E. L. James from Worcester, Massachusetts who built a 5 1\2 HP car around 1905.

I have listed under this name just the Front-Drive Sedan,  a prototype they built in 1930, but you found the right company.

The Forest Automobile should be related with Forest Motor Co. Boston, Mass. 1905.
As you well know I was searching for something from Detroit more than from Boston, because I think this is the only way to reach Gerd!

He tried 29 numbers, you 10!
Your 2 games can be compared only after the same number of attempts.
Once someone reaches 1000 he is not automatically the winner.
If he stops there with, let's say, 1000 points after 50 numbers, he will be the winner ONLY if, in the meantime, ALL the other active players (that will keep on playing) will not reach 1000 (or more) with less attempts!  ;)

...and you can always hit a top maker out of luck! Remember that my index is not the bible and they are the top makers in my archive, not in the real world...just for example I use to list some makers by chassis, one by one and others just briefly...

(I know it's odd, but it's the only way to have a fair game...)

About your guess, it's not that Forest...  :-\

Wendax

Fabrizio, if you want to reach the 1000 with less attempts than me, have a close look at the listing. There are some very hot numbers I can't try anymore.  ;)

Nothing to do with France, I'm afraid, and nothing to do with the Gordon Bennett race.  Please let's try another number (and score a -10) : 1943 ?
