Post by: pnegyesi on September 10, 2011, 11:03:57 AM
Strictly speaking, this is not a repost. Identify the car for a point.

I can't find any mention of a Pente besides the 500 & 600, and this doesn't appear to be either. I even found an article, about the make, that you wrote yourself.

Could this be a car meant to follow the 600 but ultimately left unfinished?

No, you are thinking too complicated

Is this the 500 or 600 in some early or modified state?

The rear view is different.  Is it a prototype ?

Okay, I won't be a nitpicker. This is the first Pente, the 500 which is just being built.
Together with a friend we recently bought a photo album which shows the construction of this prototype. I'll publish a few pictures on magyarjarmu.hu soon

Front view gives a better idea of the difference between this and the 600:

Penta 500. The Hungarian "Volkswagen", they used the Fiat Topolino as inspiration.

Yes - I'm surprised we haven't had this before. I didn't ask for full details so you get the point.

Built in 1946 to a design created during the war, a 500cc 2-cylinder 2-stroke, by Janos Pentelenyi of the Weiss Manfred Steel Works. A larger 600cc model was also built, and one of those still survives. The car itself never went into production.

Before Pal reacts, it should be Pente not Penta.

Greetings

Sorry. That's how it was spelt on the website where I found the image - no wonder the search didn't reveal the previous post.
