The limit of 6 correct guesses has been lifted, so 4popoid, Paul Jaray and targhediferro can join in again.

Paul Jaray

Is B-7 a correct pair? B is driving me mad!

Wendax

Paul Jaray

It's a Stanguellini then? Can't find the right model!
However, 7- Is the Guzzi-powered Stanguellini Colibrì. B- Should be another Stanguellini. I'll try to find (again) the right model.

4popoid

Is AH-3 a correct pair?  I suspect it might be, but can't find a common connection.

Yes, 7-B locked for you.

Sorry, but with now only three pairs to find I will not answer any pairing questions without identifications.

Ok, I hope it's a '750' like the one in the following pic (that is the closest I found so far...).

Are perhaps J-10 a couple of Mercury's backs?

Sorry, but J was already identified as a Ford Vedette Cóupé and found its counterpart.

Sorry, Paul, I just had another look at my solution. It is not a Stanguellini 750 S, but a Stanguellini xxxx S. Have another guess!

Paul Jaray

Oh, well...I guess it's a 1100S, then.  ;)

I believe AH is an invalid car by Automobiles Gateau of Machecoul, France.  Picture 3 is a photograph taken during the Paris student riots of May 1968, some of which were at, or near, the L'Hôtel national des Invalides.  Therefore I'll try: AH-3 with the connection being invalids/invalides.

Wendax

Sorry, AH is not a Gateau and not an invalid carriage.

4popoid

Another day, another theory.

I think AJ is is an early Land Rover 90/110, which, if studied closely, appears to be fitted with extended breathing/exhaust tubing (snorkel) for passing through high water.  24 is a photograph of American Sherman tanks, used in the 1944 invasion of Normandy, which are fitted with large rear intake/exhaust ducts for coming ashore in high water.  Therefore, I'll try: AJ-24, with the connection being vehicles modified for operation in high water.

Wendax

Sorry, AJ is not a Land Rover, while 24 shows indeed a Sherman tank like it was used in the Normandy invasion.

4popoid

Clarification please.  Is my connection theory (high water) correct, and I just have the wrong marque for AJ, or does the pairing have nothing to do with Sherman tanks that just happen to have high water traversing capability?.

Wendax

The high water traversing capability is not part of the solution to any of the pairings left.

Wendax

A hint: the remaining pairings have to do with a name, a place and a car's user.

4popoid

I'll try AH-3 again, but with a different connection.  AH could be a Marden minicar manufactured in Paris (Neuilly), while, as I said previously, 3 is a photograph taken during the Paris student riots of May 1968.  Therefore the connection is a place, namely, Paris.

To solve the last ones, you have to identify the car first I think.
E has been featured at AutoPuzzles before (in a better shape),
AH is a French microcar,
AJ is not British.

Any identification of these cars will earn you a lock.
