I'm pretty much at a loss.  Have we ruled out Belgium, or just D'Ieteren?

targhediferro

Not Belgian coachbuilder.

4popoid

Although I haven't been able to locate a carrossier in Switzerland who worked on Austro-Daimler, I have to start somewhere, and Switzerland is adjacent to Austria.  So, is the coachbuilder Swiss?

targhediferro

Not from Switzerland.

4popoid

Italian coachbuilder?

4popoid

Well it doesn't look French, but I've got to ask.  Is the coachbuilder French?

targhediferro

4popoid

Hmmmm.  Perhaps I had better ask: Is the coachbuilder European?

targhediferro

No, not European...sorry, I was tempted to tell you more than once, but this is Autopuzzles!

pnegyesi

North American coachbuilder?

Austro-Daimler by Brewster from about 1912?

targhediferro

Not Brewster, a more obscure one.

Not Willoughby & Co.
A little help...this coachbuilder name is the same of another car manufacturer.

4popoid

That hint ought to make it easy, assuming the other car manufacturer is from North America.  The first one that comes to mind is: Austro-Daimler by Biddle & Smart from about 1912?

targhediferro

No, and the other car manufacturer is not American.

4popoid

Unless the puzzle car was rebodied later (and the photograph doesn't look like it), the only American coachbuilder, having a foreign motorcar name, that fits the approx. 1912 time frame, that I can think of, would be Healey & Company of New York City.  They existed much prior to the Donald Healey Motor Company, but they bore the same Healey name, and the dressed expensive foreign and domestic motorcars, although I have no reference that says they ever did an Austro-Daimler.
