What's this one and from when does it date - for 1 point?:

It is a prototype for the VW 1500, yes, but it's not from 1961.
Also I need its code, as all VW prototypes have one.
I'll lock it for you for the rest of today to come up with the correct code name and year.

Could it be the EA53 prototype ? If it is, I have it from 1961, so I'm a bit puzzled...

Yes, it is one of the EA53 prototypes.
I actually had it as from 1964, which seemed believable as it is clearly a prototype for the Type 3 1600 TL Fastback, which I seem to recall dates from soon after.
The same picture does actually feature elsewhere on the 'Net captioned as 1961 and indeed 1954!

You may well be right that it's from 1961; perhaps a VW prototype expert (Wendax?!) can confirm or otherwise?

In the meantime will give you a point and call it solved.

I don't have a year for that one, but I would locate it somewhere between 1958 and 1961.

No, it's not the same car - the side windows are different.
It's been puzzled before and I believe is actually from 1960; these captions are often wrong..

Yes you're right, it's slightly different. BTW, the specs belonging to your pic claim it has a 900 cc engine.
