This is actually a fairly well-known car among Upstate New York antique auto enthusiasts. Here in Syracuse, we had the Franklin - and over in Buffalo, they had the Pierce-Arrow. Although you wouldn't think so by looking at it, this car is based on a 1918 Pierce-Arrow Model 48 Touring, originally with a custom body by the Don Lee Coachworks  in California. During the 1930s, a newer-looking body was constructed and added right over the old coachwork. It has since had this somewhat ungainly-looking amateur coachwork removed and has been restored to its 1918 glory.
