An easy Rookie point?

For one point, please respond and identify this car as well as the company where it was built.

Wendax

Austin Seven was the easy part, now tell me the company that built it.

AlexFrance

Was it made in the USA, or in Australia?

Is it a Dixi made by Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach?

Wendax

It is not a Dixi, but an Austin Seven.

It is not a Dixi, but an Austin Seven.

I read that the very first batch made by Dixi only used Austin parts shipped by Austin from the UK... So technically can we assume those were "genuine" A7?

Apart from that, could it be one of the very first Rosengart LR2?

Wendax

Nothing to do with Dixi or Rosengart.

AlexFrance

I am a bit lost here, but that's what it is all about, right?  ;)  :D

Ok, so if I understand well, it is a genuine Austin Seven but was not manufactured by the Austin Motor Company in the UK?

Wendax

Yes. As you can see from the manufacturer's plate, it is officially an Austin Seven. Just the company mentioned on this plate (whose name I have obscured) is not from the UK, and has a name one usually does not connect with this car.

AlexFrance

Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my question so precisely!

Is the manufacturer located in a country of the Common Wealth?

Wendax

AlexFrance

Is it one of the rolling chassis that were shipped to Japan and bodied there?

Bill Murray

Can this be a Willys Knight Austin manufactured in Germany after BMW gave up the contract?
I can't find your car anywhere but that is about all that is left.

Wendax

You are on the right trail. Willys is part of the company's name which consists of three words, each one being a car brand. Locked for you.

Bill Murray

OK, I did not read my German source carefully.
Willys-Overland-Crossley?

Wendax

Exactly! One more point for you. I was quite sure it would be you to solve this one.

Bill Murray

You, Good Sir, did not make it easy and it was a long and torturous journey.
If you had left the danged BMW in the photo it would have been a lot easier. ;D
