Two racecars on a rainy day.

For one point, please respond and identify these two cars.

serra

Are both from Germany and racing in Germany?

Wendax

serra

Was the photo taken between 1947 to 1950?

Wendax

I don't have an exact year, but the time span could be right.

serra

Do you know the drivers and the venue?

Wendax

The drivers, but I am not sure about the venue.

serra

I will try to guess, Finke (VW eigenbau) and Neuber (NSU-FIAT)?

Wendax

It is a VW-based car and a NSU-Fiat-based one, but I have different names. Locked for you.

serra

Im not sure I was eable to get more, is it  correct any driver? please

Wendax

I had a second look. Max Neuber was the driver of the NSU-Fiat, but the car was built for a German prewar racing driver well connected with (NSU-)Fiat. Still locked for you.

serra

Sorry I have looked at  more German pages than in the rest of my live, I have no found any except 2 prewar German drivers for NSU Zinn and Soergel and I have done searches with them with no results so you can unlock the puzzle for giving chance to others. :-[

Wendax

You can find the solution not far away.  ;)

Unlocked and open for all experts.

Can you please confirm - one car is an NSU-Fiat and one is a VW eigenbau? One driver IS Max Neuber (or are you looking for another name?) and the other has yet to be found?

Gunther Holz?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Wendax

I can confirm that, but I also want to know for whom the NSU-Fiat was built originally.

Was he better known as a motorbike racer?

Wendax

Not as far as I know

nicanary

Was the previous owner of the NSU-Fiat the same Adolf Reichwallner whose car has been a previous puzzle with a different body? He died in the war, and his car was raced post-war by Max Neuber. It had been rebodied in 1939 by Colli.

Wendax

Yes, Adolf Reichenwallner is the name I was looking for.

Locked for you to find the driver of the VW.

nicanary

The race number on the NSU-Fiat does not correspond with most of the entries made post-war with Neuber driving, There was a meeting at Rostock on 20.4.52 for which I cannot find race numbers, so I'm taking a gamble on that event.

Werner Kern ?

Not the name I have

Not the name I have

I have 5 names, and 2 of them are the above and Hans Finke, who has already been discounted.

So - my next guess is Klaus Reinsberger.
