Yes, I think that the car is based on a Wanderer Puppchen. That was the easy part.
No US involvement.

Your query regarding actor and actress jolted me into a new line of thinking, ropat.  The racing car occupants in the photograph have the exaggerated gestures seen in silent films.  Is this photograph a still from an old silent film, and the driver's name we are seeking that of an actor?
