Looks like a prototype of some sort and those look like Simca 1000 wheels, so the chassis/floorpan from that car?

One interesting thing is that at least this designer has thought about how hard it is to get one's feet into and out of the rear door of most cars, with their B-posts so close to their rear seats. As one gets older your feet tend to snag. I suppose, though, the post has to be as central as possible to make for better strength in a side-impact accident.

It is the Velam TA6, prototype of an israelite people's car, built in 1961 for Kaiser-Ilin of Haifa.

No production, though !

Nice to see you here again, Thierry. You certainly are right. I just had it as Voiture Populaire by Kaiser-Ilien. Was it built by the French company Velam, as the name implies, or is it just pure coincidence?

According to period magazines like l'Auto Journal, that car was indeed a study made and built by Velam for Kaiser-Ilin. Moreover, two books are telling the same story ("les voitures hors-série" by Borgé & Viasnoff and "toutes les voitures du monde des années 60" by René & Serge Bellu).

I suppose the "TA6" is just the codename used by Velam. It had a twin-cylinder air cooled 640 cc and 105 kph top speed.

The text says:
"This small car with angular lines is a prototype built in France and intended for the Israeli market. It can carry 6 people, reach 100 km/h at the top, consumes about 7 L per 100 km and weighs 650 kg. Its engine is a Steyr flat-twin air-cooled, 650 cm³ (taxable horsepower 3 CV) developing 20 real hp. The suspension is provided at the front by coil springs (independent wheels) and at the rear by rubber elements working in torsion between two square-section tubes, one connected to the wheels, the other to the body. It is equipped with drum brakes on all four wheels."
