An Austin with something different...what? and who's responsible for it?

richard cuyler

Looks like a 1948-1951 Austin A40 Dorset/Devon factory-converted convertible, possibly made for the Australian or American market, as the front sidelights are bigger and slightly differently-placed from the British-spec car.  :o

targhediferro

It looks...but it is not.  It's based on an Austin A40, but it wasn't thought for Australian or American market.

Is it the Datsun licence-built version of the A40?

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

targhediferro

Not a Datsun-licenced.

Right hand drive.  Not a factory job.  Is it an Indian made conversion?

Yes....locked for your next answer.

The flag suggests an official car.  Is this a conversion by Hindustan Motors?
