What's this car (Complet name please) and when?
Expert!
Pros!
Is it perhaps the 8 litre Voisin record car of 1927 in a slightly developed state?
Not a Voisin
British?
Maybe it's a Bentley?
Not British
This is a good puzzle. I wish I could identify the track. The car dates from the period 1912/1922 with that type of streamlining and disc wheels. I don't think it's Montlhery or Avus, nor Brooklands. It could be the US, but they didn't really make concrete tracks.
Is it a German car?
They look like Michelin tyres which is why I thought it was French.
Allan L: I can't confirm if the tyres are Michelin but I'm sure, it's not a French car.
nicanary: I can't confirm the track but I'm sure too, that's not German car.
American car?
Not american
Italian car?
Not Italian
Not many European countries left - Belgium?
or...Spain!
Hispano Suiza!
QuoteBuilt in 1923 for the opening day of the sensational Terramar Oval Circuit (located just outside Sitges, near Barcelona). This aerodynamic racer is a very special Hispano-Suiza designed by the engineer Jacques Koch. The car was made by mixing parts from some of the models produced at that time at Barcelona: the chassis was from a 16 HP model, conveniently lightened and shortened to 3,5 meters. The engine used was from the Type 32 "EspaƱa", with 4.712 cc. The body was carefully created in aluminium (photo 2) and in the first tests the car reached easily 150 km/h... but actually it was never raced
Oh very well solved! I'd forgotten all about Sitges - it was a track which was hardly ever used, except recently for an advert for Audi!
It was the pace car for the opening event.
Paul Jaray is the best :D
Grazie ;)
