DB 1
That is the one, this is the very first Deutsch-Bonnet, the DB1. I believe my source quoted that this image was from its debut at the Paris 1938 GP, but the computer that it's on is temporarily dead so I will correct that if I'm wrong there.
Well done!
a beautiful Andreau inspired design, including the back wheel arches. DB2 was a closed version AKA bat mobile for Charles Deutsch. aft rte the war that car lost its roof and is now in a swiss collection.

I think it must be, although the front grille looks different.
However, since there was only one built it can't be any other!
Will be merged.
Ah and I thought it hadn't been posted! Of course I'd only searched DB1 and Deutsch-Bonnet related, not only DB.
My understanding is that - like most race cars of the time - something like a grill may have been changed due to accidents/visual preferences and so the one shown in my puzzle might be a very early prototype version of it prior to the finished design seen in the earlier puzzle.
I may also have edited the image slightly to remove identifiers (not a central grill divider of course) so that might have something to with it also. I'll check once I get access to the original images again.
I often remove something like the central grille divider from my puzzles.
If it's something which easily identifies a car (like a BMW grille for instance) I think it's quite legitimate in order to throw puzzlers off the scent, but they're such a clever bunch on AP it rarely works as intended!

Unfortunately you can't search for two-letter words. :(

I don't agree!
2 letters are OK; it's single letters that don't work on the Search facility...
:bag:
You are right, i mixed it up with the search facility on another forum where you have to have at least three connected letters.
