SACO

Not Ford engine !
Not between 1955 and 1960 !
And not a Salmson !
There were 2 prototypes built of this car !

Built between 1952 and 1954?

oko94

Obscure or well-known coachbuilder ?

SACO

Not Bugatti !
A coach builder between 1952 and 1954 known like Bernardet !

SACO

Yes ! the coach builder is Antem !
Locked for PJ !

Paul Jaray

Ok, to sum up, Antem designed the body for these 2 prototypes, built by a small post-war constructor with a French engine.
Engine is not from:
Amilcar
Arista
Barbier
Bernardet
Bugatti
Chenard Walker
Citroen
DB
Facel Vega
Ford France
Gregoire
Panhard
Peugeot
Renault
Rosengart
Rosier
Salmson
Simca

Is this constructor a totally obscure one?

You forget one ! ;)
More than one...
Do you mean it's a quite known name, like Talbot?

SACO

Paul Jaray

But a known one?
I mean is something like the Licorne project and there is something in books or magazines or it's an ultra obscure maker that built a couple of cars and then disappeared without leaving any trace?

SACO

No ! He built numerous cars and 2 with Antem !

Paul Jaray

Alright, I'll look for a quite known maker that is not in this list:

Amilcar,
Arista,
Barbier,
Bernardet,
Bugatti,
Chenard Walker,
Citroen,
DB,
Facel Vega,
Ford France,
Gregoire,
Licorne,
Panhard,
Peugeot,
Renault,
Rosengart,
Rosier,
Salmson,
Simca,
Talbot

...and built those 2 cars.
Last question before I start looking into some books: was this maker active post 1949 and this is a sort of 'revival' project or the maker was active in the 1952-1954 period?

SACO

The maker was active in the 1952-1954 period ; but the end was close !

Thank you for the confidence  ;D

According to Bellu, there were 18 makers at the 1954's Salon.
11 are in the list of already guessed ones.
2 are powered by engines from that list (Autobleu & Gordini).
1, that was going to be my choice... is too big (Hotchkiss)

Among the 4 ones that are left, I guess it could be the CEME-powered Mochet...since there was an Antem bodied Cabriolet in 1953 and a barquette run the '55 Bol d'Or.

Mochet CM 750, CEMEC engine and body by Antem at 55 Bol d'Or.
1 point for P.J  :)

Wendax

It was the personal car of Jean and Jacques Antem.
