I guess this won't be for long in the rookies, but we shall see...
One point if you can tell me what it is..
a quick move upwards...
American ?
Partly.
So its an American owned company with a European subsiduary
No it's a bit more complicated I'm afraid.
Designed by an American ?
I don't know the designer who sketched this car, but the company is not American.
Sorry for the late reply!
Japanese ?
No.
Pro's have a go!
Nothing to do with Cadillac then?
A Daewoo (GM owned) designed and manufactured from a Chevrolet concept?

No.
AMC/Eagle related ?
Those look like Oldsmobile taillights.

Not Oldsmobile, but as close as Cadillac and Chevrolet..
Pontiac ?

Pontiac ?
So far so good!
There are still a lot of puzzle pieces missing, so, I'm not going to lock it, yet. ;)
D'oh! Why did I think Oldsmobile?
Those taillights are much like those of the last-gen Bonneville. As Pontiac was selling "Le Mans" that was a re-badged Daewoo-built Opel for some time, is this an attempt to move to a purpose-designed follow-up Le Mans?.
No. I know what it was about to be, but can't say which bits belong to that company and which came from the other. It's a stillborn project which was shelved because of changing circumstances. You tell me which companies were involved and why it ended before finishing.
One company is already disclosed.
Is there an Australian connection?
Saturn ?/Opel
No.
Connection with a European brand, like Lotus ?
Was a Chinese company involved?
Connection with a European brand, like Lotus.
I'm guessing FIAT.
Opel has already been ruled out, so maybe Vauxhall ?

not another GM company.
So maybe a coachbuilder, like Pininfarina ?

not FIAT, but other involved companies come from the same country.

not exactly a coachbuilder, but it's getting closer
IDEA institute?
Yes!
So there's another Italian company involved ? Maybe Coggiola ?
Was that a possible new model for Alfa Romeo to be built with Pontiac? (oh my...)

Yes it is!!!
It was a cancelled after Ford showed interest to buy Alfa Romeo. I.DE.A. provided the design, but my source doesn't report which parts were done by AR or Pontiac.
Another point for you!
Very interesting! Thank you for sharing. Oh..those magazines..... :D
The chassis was Alfa Romeo 164. IDEA did styling and body.

...and what was Pontiac's part?
I believe almost none. The study was aimed to develop an Alfa 164-based Pontiac, as far as I know. It should have been just branded as a Pontiac.
And it had a name....
(For search results, it's called Portello. Named after the first Alfa factory.)
Great post!
