South-African Mini Jeep?
Yes, it is South African, but do you know what the car is called? Locked to you until your next answer.
Unfortunately I do not know its official name.
All I know is they call them Mini Jeep or Ritsmotor Mini Jeep (Ritsmotor is Afrikaans for buggy). They were built in Durban by the chap who was the importer of Mercury Marine outboard motors in SA, but I haven't been able to get in touch with him yet.

Thanks Oswald, that it good additional information. I can also add that production of this vehicle was reported to be an ambitious 14 units per day, which I doubt was ever actually achieved. As an extra clue, the name of this car does have a connection with the Mini (but it's not Mini!) ;) Locked to you again for one more answer.
Well, no news on the car's name, but I wanted to share this never the less.
Although he doesn't know its official name; a friend of a friend has one of these cars over in SA.
And he was kind enough to make a picture of the cars license disc, see below.
It's called Leyland Beach Buggy / Ritsmotor on it.
Doesn't bring us any further does it..!
Sorry Oswald, but that doesn't bring us any further, as Leyland was the marque name for the Leykorp Minis in South Africa in the 1970s and 80s. It will be very interesting to see any other photos of your friend's car though, if that's possible? Thanks.
PM sent.
I happened to bump into Djetset recently (nice meeting you again!), and he told me about the car's name, so I guess I'm out of the game here.
But I'm still hoping for more information about it, so let's see what happens.

None of the above, and thanks for your honesty Oswald. It was very good to meet you and have a pleasant catch-up. I hope the poster is selling well :D

It is related to the name given to the Mini in a certain market.

Mascot?
I thought my last clue may have made this one too easy!
Well done Wendax, as it is indeed a Mascot Mini Buggy, made in South Africa, with a planned production of up to 14 cars per day, which I don't believe was ever achieved. For those still unsure of the link, Mascot was the name used for the Mini in Denmark (as the Morris Mascot). A special note of thanks to Oswald too for his additional useful information.
