Um . .  Carnut? I really feel guilty NOW, but I'll claim this one  ;)

George McLaughlin Roadster built from salvaged parts in the 1940s. The chassis came from an old Ford, and it featured a Ford flathead V8 engine. A low-slung body with an enormous grille was built from scratch. A 1936 Ford coupe roof was modified to fit the body. The roof could be lifted off on hot days. The build took several years, and George never finished it.
