My first thought was that it might be a custom-bodied Healey . . . but for some reason Lea-Francis also popped into my head. Am I even in the right part of the world? Looks early 50-ish to me.

You are, yes.
A Healey one-off it is, so I'll lock it for you to find out more.

#4
Healey 2.4 litre Convertible by Beutler. It appears a couple of different places on the internet, some call it a 1947, others a 1949.  I'm still not 100% sure if it's based on an Elliott, a Duncan or an Abbott. As it is said to be a very early car, probably an Elliott. A lot of folks don't care for these early "Big Healeys", the factory bodies were a little odd - but I've always liked them. This Beutler creation is actually quite nice, I think.

Yes, apart from the fact it's not the convertible, which was featured on AP here:

This is the only coupé built by Beutler and you are right, it's described variously as 1947 or 1949.  I think it may be 1947 and the convertible was built in 1949.

Here's an interesting ad when the car was For Sale in the 1960s:

Just a note to say that Elliott, Duncan and Abbott were coachbuilders.
Healey supplied the coachbuilders with rolling chassis and Beutler, like the others, would have started with that.
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

Yes, I'm aware of that . . . but the cars they built are typically referred to by those names.
