Toyota Model B "Large Sized Luxury Car", about 1944 by the time they finished it. I always thought that the front end of these looked like a cross between a 1941 Chevy truck and a 1941 Dodge truck.

That's right, yes.
You would have thought they would have been otherwise occupied around that time rather than thinking about American-looking luxury cars!

Yes, absolutely. The market for such a car had to be extremely limited in any case, but why even bother with it with so much on their nation's industrial plate?
