I'm afraid I don't know the base; could be American but there's nothing Italian in it AFAIK.

I do know the nationality but it's not French.
It's all the mechanical bits and their sources I don't know much about!

Isn't the Detling kit car show (note the spelling of Detling) in the UK? These photos were of course taken at a US car show.
So it's nothing to do with that Detling, but I haven't been able to find very much out about this car at all, like what it's based on.
At the time I found it I was Googling for VW-based kit cars..
Apparently one or two others were made as well.
