Is there an Opel Rekord from the 50's somewhere in this car?

Carnut

No Peugeot or Opel in it, but it is American, yes.

That's what it started out as, yes, but it doesn't look like any other Muntz Jet 52-M, so how come it's different and who was responsible?

Still locked for you.

I found plenty of photos of this car ,but very little info, but I did find alittle, the car was of two in Europe, and originally registered in spain in 1959 by an American servicemen. The 1952 car was modified in 1955,the front end was reminiscent of the ford thunderbird. The car is now in a museum in spain.I have a feeling Frank Kurtis wasn,t the builder or modifier, but I,ll continue searching.

OK, I'll give you that as it's all correct.
One site did say that the modification was one of three done by Muntz themselves in 1955 to resemble the Thunderbird, which was selling like hot cakes so they thought their car would do better if it looked more like one..  But did Muntz still exist in 1955?
Anycase it's the only one of the three which has survived looking like that.

So..  You're a Professional now!  Congratulations and commiserations too as life gets a little harder from now on!
