It's not an MGA body; it has 40's Ford V8 mechanicals but not a Ford chassis.
I've amended the questions slightly now that this is in the Pro's too!

I'd never heard of the maker but now I know who it is they have a lot of history and many products and do indeed seem to be well-known.

1939 King Cobra Convertible Roadster built by Paul Normand with 1948 Ford V8 engine
Title: Re: NEH 4267
Post by: Carnut on November 05, 2015, 04:15:12 AM
Your persistence has paid off!
Why the car is referred to as "1939" is a mystery, as it was built in the 21st century using 1948 Ford mechanicals and a 1948 Ford flathead V8, in the style of a period roadster (though it doesn't look as early as 1939 to me).

Apparently Mr Normand is well-known for his creations, and there have been many of them down the years.  He doesn't take commissions but makes only what he wants, usually around one per year.  Googling him turns up many facts, including that his collection of model cars was auctioned in the UK recently!

You've earned your point!
Here's a picture of the interior:

I don't know how many hours I spent on this one but I'm glad it paid off !

The name of the car doesn't make sense at all (neither a King Cobra nor made in 1939) which probably made it more difficult to find.

Yes, 1 paltry point hardly seems to justify the effort, but of course we do it for the fun of the chase!
I bet you've learned a bit in the process though..
