Was this vehicle actually manufactured in the early 20th century, or was it actually manufactured much later, and only made to look as if it was manufactured in the early 20th century?

French marque?  If so it could be a Garcin circa 1905, which was produced by the Société de la Voiture Bouquet, Garcin et Schivre, of Courbevoie, or BGS.  BGS simultaneously produced electric vehicles sold under the Créanche brand.

Doktorwagen from 1906. Now, if that is not a coincidence!! Here is what I received today (you can read the date on the box):

I see :( :( I've been trying to sell my spare copy of Schweizer Autos for many months now. Anyhow this is not the 1906 Doktorwagen. One more try

I've been quite lucky & patient....I set my budget quite low to buy more books and from time to time I still find the right occasion ;).

Back to the puzzle, according to that book, in 1910 there was a Typ A 2-seater.
According to that same source (that I still have to translate...) around 1908 there were 2 cars named Modell 1: the Typ A, light 2-seater kleinwagen and Type C, 2-seater kleinwagen.
Puzzle car seems to be a 2-seater kleinwagen so I'll go for a Typ C from 1908, because the Modell 2 Typ D Doppel-Phaeton of the same year in the following picture shares the same lines.

Okay, you went with the wrong answer, but mentioned the correct one - this is from 1910
